Research & Education

Art-historical inquiry informs the consultancy’s work and provides a foundation for writing, teaching, and public discussion. Emma Richan’s interests span North American art, the Canadian art market, contemporary public art, and the ways institutions and commerce shape cultural value.

Art Markets & Scholarship

Drawing on experience in galleries, auction houses, and consulting, Emma examines the relationship between academic research and professional art-market practice, including attribution, interpretation, valuation, and the circulation of knowledge.

Public Art & Stewardship

Research informed by consulting practice considers how public artworks take shape through collaboration, municipal policy, material decisions, and the demands of long-term care.

Teaching & Speaking

Emma developed and taught The Global Art Market: Practical Applications at the University of Toronto in 2024 and 2025. She welcomes enquiries about lectures, writing commissions, research collaborations, and teaching.
